Our Godson

This passed February we welcomed one more into our family.  We were honored to be Maher's Godparents. However that honor did not keep our battery charged to capture anymore than this one snapshot.  I do like how you can see his Daddy dressing him under the "mark" of our faith, Our Lord on the Cross.

The Apple Tree

We have all heard and most likely used the old saying, "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree."  Well, this is all too true in rearing children.  You see little flickers of what you must have put your parents through (Mom, I am so sorry!).  You also see your spouse in your little ones and smile as you can image them in those little footie pj's with a milk mustache. The entire family line somehow sneaks into your little one in one way or another, which is why nothing bonds a family like babies.  More than blood and DNA is passed along; the present, past and future unfolds daily before your eyes.

I see so much of the Blaxton side in my boys...besides being spitting images of their uncles, Avery seems to have a true passion for music like his uncle and Paul Thomas is more and more a job orientated perfectionist like his Daddy.  There are little things, like the way PT points (the bounce-index-so-as-to-point-and-not-be- rude-at-the-same-time) that is just like his Papa.  His attention to detail like his Pop Pop, he knows exactly where every tool goes in the tool box.

We've discovered the apple tree of another trait.

I give you, "Papa and PT's First Flight"

First the aircraft is assembled.  Quiet now, it requires tremendous concentration!

Getting giddy with anticipation.

Checking out the wing span.

Flight School.

Well, sort of.

Not too shabby for the first flight.

A delight for all ages.

Now you've got it!

Minor adjustments.

Smooth sailing from here on out.

Now did you catch what the apple is?

Go back and watch this, then look at the pictures again.

Friday Photo Favorites

Play date with Avery and Daniel.

(Looking back through my post I have realized Avery wears this out fit a lot! He has more clothes, too many actually, this outfit is just so easy and cute!)

Trike and Skype

Avery received the most awesome trike from GeeGee and Papa this year for his birthday. This trike allows him to keep up with his big brother on trike walks (he is one going on three). It is a Kettler, German made trike, with a push handle and dumping bucket. The most impressive feature is that when a little one, who is unable to pedal, is riding the front wheel locks and the pusher steers with the back wheel. Eliminating the quick turning maneuver that usually results in a face plant.

Here is his first spin on the trike.

The first out door test drive.

Almost everyday now we have enjoyed trike rides as it is now the preferred mode of transportation in the Blaxton household. With all these trike rides, Paul Thomas has learned how to pedal his trike and is really impressive with his awareness and maneuverability while riding, thus saving the toes of his shoes. He has two pair of sneakers, one pair of cow boots and more than a few pair of socks worn through from the pre-pedal, scoot-along stage.

Okay now for your added enjoyment...we have been skyping long distant relatives which is a great way for the boys to stay connected to everyone so for those who haven't had a chance to skype here is what you have been missing.

There is a little video box of what the other person is seeing and Paul Thomas has found it most amusing to see himself on this little screen.

Thank you so much GeeGee and Papa for the new set of wheels! Every morning Avery wakes and first thing he grabs is his shoes and heads for the door for a trike ride!

Our Confection Family

In an effort to show sympathy and with an eagerness to complete the task at hand of wiping this very sticky face after a successful lunch period, I soothed, "Hold on Baby Cakes! I'm almost finished!"

I heard a little giggle behind me and turned to find this little one with his familiar head tilt and "let's see if I understand you correctly" expression as he said, "Tat Baby Cake?!" pointing to his chubby little cherub brother. Then eyebrows slightly raised and lips beginning to curl he said, pointing to his own tummy, "Tat Cake!"

I couldn't help but to laugh out loud and was amazed at the connection "Cake" had made.

Introducing: Baby Cake and Cake

As we cleared things up and talked about Cake and Baby Cake, Paul Thomas looked at me and, knowing that I somehow needed to be part of the pastry family, deemed me "Birthday Cake." And, yes, even Daddy is in on it as he is now dubbed "Pancake."

We have always tried to be a tasteful family.
