True Hero

My nephew and Avery were sitting having breakfast after a wonderful weekend filled with lots of prayers and Masses as we witnessed our beloved Uncle Matty become Fr. Hoelscher. As they were off in their own little world they had fantastical conversation about the monster and the knight that slayed him. The monster sounded appropriately grotesque with one eye and tooth, a beard and probably oozing snot or something. The knight well, he was none other than Jesus riding his majestic horse and protecting the castle. They laughed and giggled at how he slayed the disgusting monster and yes they were a little silly about it all, what remained was the hero was Jesus. They did not choose a popular character or even St. George (he is very popular in our house right now) the went straight for the big guns. Because when there is a really ugly monster that needs to be slayn you better go straight to the source of goodness, Our Lord.

After witnessing this interaction between these two I thought how blessed we are as parents that our children can authentically share their faith with all members of our family and how blessed that in their littleness of a simple imagination they grasp the greatness of Our Lord.

Cousins!
I absolutely love Daniel and Maher's poses. My boys look as if they have never seen a camera before.

The Life You're Living: Week 21

We took our Texas Foursome all the way to Illinois this week to witness Uncle Matty become Fruncle Matty! Here are a few favorite pictures from our trip.

The Life You're Living: Week 20

Paul Thomas, you still love this place even after three years of the same exhibits. Had to stop to renew our membership before we headed out of town for Uncle Matty's ordination. Needed to make sure we had the ability to stop for some energy release.

Trying to convince me that you can ride all the way to Gia and Poppy's. Soon Avery, soon.

God must have chuckled as He crammed so much personality into such a tiny girl.

So much so that it oozes right out into beautiful curly hair!

Like your brothers, you have a need to push/move things. Your new favorite object is my old toy box.

Whoa, you go so fast that turns are particular fun to watch you navigate.

Everyday you start your morning like this. Shins beware!

The Life You're Living: Week 19

This week you all finally got to go and watch Mary Colette's gymnastic class. You have been begging since she started and today was her last class so we indulged. What a treat because you all got a chance to enjoy the fun. After hearing about how high your sister climbed the rope you had to give it a shot.

Avery this is the only picture I have of you that day. Oh my goodness how you were giddy, just bouncing all over the place! You are so excited because I told you that you guys will get to be in a class in the fall.

You had so much fun this semester in class and were crazy good at everything you tried. You had so much fun I am so grateful that you had this opportunity.

Even you, George, had a blast!

Manic Monday

Avery captured a very large fly and graciously allowed George a chance to investigate.

Perfect imperfection.

I love how it's always the littlest that brings our family together. It seems like our family is never complete until the newest arrives. Once the baby is here there is sigh and we all realise that this little one was always meant to be ours and we are better because of them.

Is Technology Neutral?

R. Jared Staudt asks the question here. Look for more on this topic in the near future.

Helping Hands

In our house we have "the boys," "Daddy" and "the mommas" at least according to Mary Colette. She often times turns to me and states that we can do this or that "because we are the mommas". No momma's day is complete without dinner prep.

Her hair is post doggy ear nap, or her usual crazy hair look.

The Life You're Living: Week 18

Spring is in full swing and you my oldest have grown! Look at those too short pants and too small bike! It is a good thing your birthday is just around the corner.

Blue mouth from homemade blueberry ice-cream. Oh Avery how you delight in my crazy kitchen creations. You are such a joy to cook for!

Oh Mary Colette, what a wonderful site to see you and Georgie so filled with love for each other. You are an amazing big sister and delight in your brothers so completely.

Georgie, oh Georgie, what a messer! That's what we hear more and more these days! Why eat your treat when you can wear it?!
