Friday Photo Favorites

*WARNING*
Tons of pictures!

A month ago my children and Maher got to experience a slice of my childhood: a visit to Ganny and Paw Paw's Small Texas town with Dairy Queen and--gasp!--an all metal play ground. That's right folks.  Metal slide, metal monkey bars and wait for it...teeter totters! Yes. They risked a lot as there wasn't even mulch or shredded rubber to save bare knees. This is how we once played...you knew how to slide fast, holding up any exposed skin, and shoes stayed on for fear of sticker patches.  Thanks for a taste of the Good Ol' Days, Ganny an Paw Paw!

Friday Photo Favorites

Do you remember those wonderful early 90's pictures where one person was floated into the upper corner while the rest of the group looked pristine in a natural setting below?

They always creep me out, as if to say "this is the family member we wish were still with us" in a looking down from above kind of way.

Well I am beginning to understand why those took off.

Pristine (almost) family at bottom.

Defiant three year old to be floated into the corner.

Or you can have this:

Family chaos, or, rather, real life!

I think they were listening.

This past Sunday after brunch Philip had a very in depth conversation, the way only an aspiring academic could with the boys about Mary Colette not being a toy. The rules were etched out as thus: They can play with Mary Colette so long as she is not an object in the game, but rather a participator.

I think they were listening...

Toy, active participant who knows. Just looks like a bunch of fun too me!
