Duck Days

After coming home from the hospital, we all headed to our comfort zone, a warm soft non-mobile bed, a couch with a theology book and a swing with ducks.

Ohhhh, Hey guys!

You're spinning so fast!

I'm gonna gettcha!

What works

With each baby comes a different preferred way of being coaxed to sleep. Paul Thomas, we swaddled till his eyes popped!

Avery prefers white noise.

Here you can see his new sleeping arrangement in the kitchen, exhaust fan included.

Whoo Whoo!

This past Saturday we went out to find a Whoo Whoo! Thanks to Thomas (the train from Sodor), Peter, GeeGee and Papa and a well timed trip to a train grave yard, PT is fascinated with Whoo whoos, aka trains. I had some fun of my own with the photos.

Easy does it.

This right here is a Whoo whoo! I am standing, ah well, squatting on a Whoo whoo!

Come on Daddy! You can get up over here!

Fast as fast can be, you'll never catch me!

Whoa! Little rocks in little cracks

The Grand Finale!

Uhhh....I don't get you people.

You wagged me here for that?

It comes from Daddy!

In our family we are used to tiny babies. I was 5 lbs 6 oz and the others were all less than 6 1/2. And we all stayed small for a while (a 10 lb 3 month old is still small, Mom). Yes, Mom got to enjoy the newborn stage for more than a few hours. When I was pregent with PT I feared not the three month size baby I would delivery. I thought I would follow in my mother's shoes. After all we look so much a like it only made sense. Then PT was born and all were amazed and he grew so quickly. I thought that for his first birthday we would be buying 24 months (oh wait, we did). This was so foreign to me, because at that point all of Jenny-lynn's kids had to be duct taped into their clothes they were/are so skinny! Even my little tiny Avery is now a big baby...off the charts. I was wondering were this came from...then I found this!
I now share Uncle Ash's affection for rolly babies! They are so much fun to cuddle!

MMMMMORE

At long last Paul Thomas has one truly distinguishable word for at least most ears down. Today at breakfast it was wonderful to watch him practice and then master (at least for that moment) the word "more". This is a very important word to him as it was the only word he signed and it meant "I want something, hurry up and figure it out!" I am so happy to be moving into toddler language and away from grunts and whines. He had developed a special talent of driving me crazy with a whiny uhhhhh. This probably doesn't deserve a post in most people's book, but for me I am elated and wanted to share my joy. Now I don't have to answer the questions of why he isn't talking and if he is developmentally "okay" or if he is deaf.

Yeah for more! We are getting there!
