Explaining Ourselves

Think about it. Have you ever heard someone, possibly a "well-seasoned" someone, comment on anothers' bad behavior by saying,"Typical," whilst rolling his eyes? On the other hand, "behavioral specialists" will call a wide range of behavior "normal." A lot of people assume that "typical" and "normal" are synonyms, which explains your furrowed brows when you read the sub-title to this half-requested, half-experimental, half-impulsive forum. We want our kids to be "normal"-which may be a lot to ask given their parents' state- but we do not want our children to be "typical." A normal toddler will test the firmness of his daddy's will; a typical toddler will throw a fit... and then get what he wants. A normal teenager will test the boundaries; a typical teenager doesn't respect authority.

All that having been said, does our goal make sense now? The following future posts will document one little family doing its darnedest to raise God-ly people in a God-less culture. We hope to encourage, enlighten, entertain, and most of all, edify you our faithful, or otherwise, readers. Oh, and there will be pictures, for those who chagrin verbosity. Boun appetit!
